I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been working as a counselor for three years; before working as a counselor, I was taught kindergarten and first grade in Philadelphia. I have a lot of experience working with clients dealing with mood issues, anxiety, and trauma. For many of my clients, these three things overlap and create the perfect storm, so to speak, causing significant issues with quality of life and relationships, among other issues. I also have worked extensively with women, and individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and the queer community. As a woman and the member of the queer community, I share some lived experiences with these clients and work to bring that connect to the therapeutic relationship. I've also worked with adolescents (and their families) with anxiety, depression, trauma, and school/education issues.
My primary modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I work through a multi-cultural lens that acknowledges how race, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, family of origin, and early experiences influence who we are today. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore and grow.
Collaboration is also extremely important to me; the therapy experience is the client’s and if something doesn’t work, I work to find something that does. I work to build authentic relationships with clients by holding space and empathy, employing gentle humor, and being my genuine self.
